Hardiness zones for growing caladiums

We start shipping in early March, we time shipments to various zones so they may not be subject to freezing temperatures during shipping. Bulbs shipped to Northern Florida in March should arrive in great shape, if we shipped to Minnesota at the same time, the bulbs may be subject to freezing (that's bad). Generally, we forego shipping on Thursdays and Fridays in order to keep the bulbs from being held over the week-end and possibly exposed to low temps.
Prolonged exposure to temps even in the 40's and 50's can adversely affect caladium bulbs.

Find your exact zone:  Click Here  (USDA Hardiness Zone Finder)

We go by shipping zones, we set up pre-planned dates for safe shipping to your zone, (below) then we consult the weather and see if the temps in your zone are warm enough. If we think the temp can drop below 55 degrees in your zone, we don't ship until we see 3 or more days above that. You can be in zone 5 on the east coast and it is cold - we don't ship; however, zone 5 on the west coast is fine - we ship.

We catch some customer flack here when we delay shipping for cold weather, we are sorry; as Sonny Corleone said in the Godfather, "It ain't personal... it's business." Some varieties are low inventory and cannot be replaced if the original order arrives damaged. Bulbs that are damaged by cold weather may look OK, but they may not grow well, if at all.

Early shipping to your zone...

Phyto certification, or pytosanitary certification, is a government's stamp of approval on plants, stating that they are safe for import or export. Most countries, including the United States and Canada, require certification before plants can be shipped or sold. This may require fees in excess of $75 or more.
